Evie Gabel Memorial 1000 Meter Award |
| First given in 1997, this
award is given each year to the woman who skates the fastest 1000 meter race during the
Kraft Foods - Northbrook Short Track Open meet. It is dedicated in the memory of
Evie Gabel, who is remembered fondly by countless speed skating families. Evie devoted a huge amount of time and energy to promote the sport of speed skating and served the Northbrook club in a number of offices. The club is proud to continue this tradition in Evie's name. |
