Coaches

One priority of the Northbrook Speedskating club is to provide high quality coaches who are dedicated to facilitating the fun, fitness and technical aspects of our sport.  Our coaches have years of experience teaching speedskaters,  beginners to advanced.  They have been involved in skating most of their lives and have competed at national and international levels.    

Chuck Burke:  Long time member and coach of the Northbrook Speedskating Club starting in 1952.  Two-time U.S. Speedskating Olympian and member of the U.S. Speedskating Hall of Fame

John Singer:
 
U.S. National Team member, 1986, 1989-1994 and U.S. world short track team, 1991.  U.S. national short track champion (1000m), 1990 and 1991.  Silver medalist at the World University Games (5000m relay), 1991.   North American long track champion, 1994.  Long time skater and coach of Northbrook Speedskating Club

Chris Stankiewicz:  National level skater and member of Northbrook Speedskating Club since 1998.  Coach of Northbrook Speedskating Club, 2005-present. 

Ann Marie Shipstad:   National level skater and  professional skater and coach of multiple ice sports.  Founder of the non-profit Icereach organization.
