Entries must be received by February 14th, 2019 at noon.

Meet Format

All age groups and abilities are welcome. Skaters will be grouped into competitive mixed gender ability groups based on submitted seed times. All skaters will race in a heat and final. It is not the responsibility of the meet director to look up skater seed times.

The Northbrook Speedskating Club and meet organizers reserve the right to make changes in the meet format.

T Shirts are available for sale on the online registration form. T-Shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for registrations/orders received after February 1st, 2019.

*Why the funky name?
In 2016, we opted to change the name of the meet to honor Chuck and Donna Burke, long time friends of the Northbrook Speed Skating Club.

2019 NorthBurke Open* will be Saturday, February 16th.  


6:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m. Check In & Mat Set Up
7:30 a.m.- 8:00 a.m. Warm Up
8:00 a.m. -8:15 a.m. National Anthem & Ice Resurface
8:15 a.m.. Racing Begins
4:00 p.m. Racing Ends (approximately)
4:15 p.m. ASE Race Strategy and Tactics Camp Introduction


Skaters must race all distances to qualify for an overall award unless injured or ill. Tie breaker will be the longest race in the ability group. Awards will be given to the 1st –3rd placed male and female skaters in each ability group containing a minimum of 4 skaters.

Personal Best Tokens will be available at the awards table for skaters reporting personal bests to the awards volunteers.


The NorthBurke meet will serve as an optional "Kick Off" event for the ASE Accelerator Camp held February 17 - 18 in Milwaukee. Optional Ice time at the end of races (if available) will be used for this ASE Camp.
